Mycoplasma/ureaplasma

These are bacteria that are often detected in female genitalia and are possibly transmitted through sexual intercourse. Their presence has been linked to a possible increased risk for spontaneous abortion and premature birth.

A special polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is applied, detecting the presence of both bacteria.

SPECIMEN:Secretions or a spontaneous abortion tissue sample.

SHIPMENT: Samples may be stored at 4°C and shipped as soon as possible. We can provide transport medium and swabs with a wooden handle should not be used for sampling.
